Product Description

Height: Kumquat trees are generally small, typically reaching 2–8 feet (60 cm – 2.4 meters) in height when grown in containers, though they can grow taller in the ground under ideal conditions.
Spread: The plant has a bushy growth habit, with a spread of about 3–5 feet (1–1.5 meters) when mature.
Leaves: The leaves are small, narrow, and oval, with a glossy green color. They tend to be fragrant when crushed.
2. Fruit:
Appearance: The fruit is small, oval, and typically orange, though it can also have a slightly yellow or golden hue. Kumquats are unique because you eat the peel, which is sweet, while the flesh inside is tart.
Size: Each fruit is about 1–2 inches (2.5–5 cm) in length.
Taste: The flavor is a blend of sweet and tart. The skin gives a sweet flavor, while the pulp inside provides a tangy taste, creating a refreshing contrast.
3. Growing Conditions:
Climate: Kumquats thrive in warm climates, with temperatures between 55°F (13°C) and 85°F (29°C). They are cold-hardy compared to other citrus plants and can tolerate light frosts (down to around 18°F/-7°C).
Sunlight: They need full sunlight for at least 6 hours per day to produce the best fruit.
Soil: Well-draining soil is crucial. Sandy loam or slightly acidic soil with a pH of 5.5–7 is ideal.
Watering: The plant needs regular watering, especially during dry periods, but should not be waterlogged. The soil should remain slightly moist.
4. Care:
Fertilization: Kumquats benefit from regular feeding with a balanced fertilizer, especially during the growing season. They also benefit from a slow-release fertilizer formulated for citrus trees.
Pruning: Light pruning helps to maintain a good shape and remove any dead or damaged branches.
Pest and Disease: They are generally resistant to pests but can attract aphids, mealybugs, and spider mites. Fungal diseases like root rot can occur if the plant is overwatered or the soil does not drain well.
